The Strait of Juan de Fuca from Hurricane Ridge

Two pictures today. The Strait of Juan de Fuca is the principal outlet for the Georgia Strait and Puget Sound, connecting both to the Pacific Ocean. It provides part of the International Boundary between the United States and Canada which can be seen on the far side of the Strait.

This view was taken on the Meadow Loop atop Hurricane Ridge. A bank of snow still clings to the north side of the mountains. The Forest Service says the ridge offers: 'spectacular mountain views, wildflowers, deer, black bear, marmots, and other wildlife. Winter snow play and cross-country and downhill skiing though winter storms with winds that can exceed 100 mph make keeping the area open for winter recreation a challenge.'
